But whoso hearkens to me [Wisdom] shall dwell securely and
and in confident trust and shall be quiet, without fear or dread of evil.
MY MUSINGS-All Scripture
When He gives quietness (peace and security from oppression), who then can condemn?
What then shall we say to [all] this? If God is for us, who can be against us? [Who can be our foe, if God is on our side?]
The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?
For He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not! So we take comfort and are encouraged and confidently and boldly say, The Lord is my Helper; I will not be seized with alarm [I will not fear or dread or be terrified].
Job 34:29, Romans 8:31, Psalm 118:6-8, Hebrews 13:5-6
For the Lord gives skillful and godly Wisdom;
from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.
MY MUSINGS-All Scripture
And if anyone longs to be wise, ask God for wisdom and he will give it! He won’t see your lack of wisdom as an opportunity to scold you over your failures but he will overwhelm your failures with his generous grace. But prove yourselves doers of the word [actively and continually obeying God’s precepts], and not merely listeners [who hear the word but fail to internalize its meaning], deluding yourselves [by unsound reasoning contrary to the truth]. Let the word of Christ live in you richly, flooding you with all wisdom. Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening!
James1:5,22; Colossians 3:16; I Samuel 3:10
My child, sinners will try to lead you into sin.
But do not follow them.
My son, do not walk in the way with them;
hold back your foot from their paths.
MY MUSINGS
You are a child of God (I John 5:1). He loves you as much as He loves Jesus (John 3:16). He has a plan for you and your life here on Earth (Jeremiah 29:11). God wants you to have a prosperous and abundant life (John 10:10). To have that life, He asks you to do a few simple things: believe in Him, and follow Him (John 6:29). Do not follow this world nor be enticed by what it has to offer (Proverbs 1:10).
Follow God by His Word and your path will lead to life (Ephesians 5:1, Psalm 16:11).
So Beloved, put on your best walking shoes, and let's go!
If you choose to follow good counsel,
divine design will watch over you
and understanding will protect you
from making poor choices.
It will rescue you from evil in disguise
and from those who speak duplicities.
For they have left the paths of righteousness
and walk in the ways of darkness.
MY MUSINGS
Watch your step and who you are stepping with. We can be so easily influenced by the people who we associate with, the places we go, and the things we watch, read, and hear. Knowledge and understanding received from reading the Holy Bible and listening to Holy Spirit will keep us on the right path and save our lives. However, listening to the ones who flatter falsely (Proverbs 29:5), speak with envy (James 3:15-16), gossip (2 Timothy 2:16), and plot evil (Proverbs 6:13) with worldly justification will little by little throw us off God's course for our life and before we know it, we are walking in darkness. The good news is, when we find that our missteps have led us to where we don't want to be, we can call on Jesus, the Righteous and True Counselor, the living word of God to rescue us! The word from heaven will come to us with dazzling light to shine upon those who live in darkness, near death’s dark shadow. And He will illuminate the path that leads to the way of peace (Luke 1:79 TPT). Hallelujah!
So Beloved, put on your best walking shoes, and let's go!
My son, let not these things depart from thy eyes:
keep the law and counsel:
And there shall be life to thy soul,
and grace to thy mouth.
Then shalt thou walk confidently in thy way,
and thy foot shall not stumble:
MY MUSINGS
"Keep the law and counsel," what does that look like:
When we wake up, we should pray and read our bible. When we start something new, we should pray and read our bible. When we are concerned or in doubt, we should pray and read our bible. When we are happy or grateful, we should pray and read our bible. When we are planning, we should pray and read our bible. When we have finished, we should pray and read our bible. When we go to bed, we should pray and read our bible.
Following God and His Word is essential to having the life we were pre-destined to have. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus in good works, which God hath prepared that we should walk in them (Ephesian 2:10).
My child, never drift off course from these two goals for your life:
to walk in wisdom and to discover your purpose.
Don’t ever forget how they empower you.
For they strengthen you inside and out
and inspire you to do what’s right;
you will be energized and refreshed by the healing they bring.
They give you living hope to guide you,
and not one of life’s tests will cause you to stumble (Proverbs 3:21-23 TPT).
So Beloved, put on your best walking shoes, and let's go!
Take hold of my instructions; don’t let them go.
Guard them, for they are the key to life.
Don’t do as the wicked do,
and don’t follow the path of evildoers.
Don’t even think about it; don’t go that way.
Turn away and keep moving.
Decide carefully where you are going in life.
Then you will be on a good, safe path.
Do not walk off your path, to the right side or the left side.
Keep away from everything that is evil.
MY MUSINGS
After we pray to God, read His Word, and receive our instructions, we must move. We must follow the path Jesus set before us. On this path, there is no room to pick up the baggage of this world. We must travel light. Only carry the gifts of the Spirit. Only walk where we have been instructed. Do allow the distractions of our flesh to cause use fall nor fail. Jesus tells us to "Go in through the narrow gate to get true life with God. It is difficult to go through the small gate. And it is difficult to walk on the narrow road. But when you do go that way, you will get true life" (Matthew 7:13-14). When we walk the way of Wisdom, no matter how hard it may be, we will not fail! At the end of our journey, we will win!
So Beloved, put on your best walking shoes, and let's go!
For your ways are in full view of the Lord,
and he examines all your paths.
MY MUSINGS-All Scripture
"The Lord sees everything you do. Wherever you go, he is watching" (Proverbs 5:21).
"O Lord, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down
and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether. You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it. Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!" (Psalm 139:1-8, 23-24). "The Lord will protect you from all evil; He will keep your life. The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in [everything that you do] from this time forth and forever" (Psalm 121:7-8).
So Beloved, put on your best walking shoes, and let's go!
My son, keep your father's [God-given] commandment and forsake not the law of [God] your mother [taught you].
Keep their teaching in your thoughts. Keep it as near to you as a necklace that you wear.
When you go, they [the words of your parents' God] shall lead you; when you sleep, they shall keep you; and when you waken, they shall talk with you.
MY MUSINGS
When you go, who leads you?
When you sleep, who do you give your cares to you?
When you wake, whose voice do you hear?
If we are honest with ourselves and the answers to those questions are not "God," we are not walking with Wisdom God offers. We are not receiving all His blessings, all His peace, and all His heart. God says "listen, my sons and daughters, to everything I tell you, for nothing will bring you more joy than following my ways" (Proverbs 8:32). God is where the joy is! (Psalm 16:11)
So Beloved, put on your best walking shoes, and let's go!
I saw some foolish, young men.
I noticed one of them who had no wisdom.
He was walking down the street near the corner.
He was on the road leading to [Folishness'] house.
It was the twilight of the evening.
The darkness of the night was just beginning.
MY MUSINGS
We gain Wisdom from the Word of God. "Your word is like a lamp for my feet and a light for my way" (Psalms 119:105). Without Wisdom, we are walking into darkness. Do not seek out, or even allow yourself to be drawn into, the darkness to find pleasures for your life. Seek the Light. Seek Jesus, for He is "the Way, the Truth, and the Life!" (John 14:6). "Everyone who does evil hates the light. He will not come to the light because it will show all the evil things he has done. But he who follows the true way comes to the light. Then the light will show that the things he has done were done through God” (John 3:20-21).
"Here is the message we have heard from God and now tell to you: God is light, and in him there is no darkness at all. So if we say that we have fellowship with God, but we continue living in darkness, then we are liars. We do not follow the truth " (I John 1:5-6).
Again, Jesus is the Way, The Truth, and the Life. Come, let us follow Him.
So Beloved, put on your best walking shoes, and let's go!
I was like a child by his side.
I was happy every day
and enjoyed being in his presence.
I enjoyed the whole world.
And I was happy with all its people.
“Now, my children, listen to me.
Those who follow my ways are happy."
MY MUSINGS
Wisdom urges us to follow her ways.
What are some of the ways of Wisdom?
Proverbs 8 tells us that Wisdom:
calls out the people to listen to the truth (4,6),
hates it when people speak evil (7),
is always honest (8),
hates pride and bragging, evil ways and lies (13),
knows how to give good advice (14),
does what is right and fair (20),
and enjoys life (30-31).
Her ways can sometimes be hard to follow, but Wisdom assures us, "I love those who love me. Those who want me find me" (17). Wisdom promises us, "Whoever finds me finds life. And the Lord will be pleased with him" (35). Understanding how valuable Wisdom is to the quality of our lives, we should "Search for it as you would for silver. Hunt for it like hidden treasure" (Proverbs 2:4)!
So Beloved, put on your best walking shoes, and let's go!
There is a spirit named Foolish,
who is boisterous and brash;
she’s seductive and restless.
And there she sits at the gateway to the high places,
on her throne overlooking the city.
She preaches to all who walk by
who are clueless as to what is happening:
“Come home with me.”
She invites those who are easily led astray,
Little do they know when they answer her call
that she dwells among the spirits of the dead,
and all her guests soon become citizens of hell!
MY MUSINGS
Wisdom calls us to be careful to stay upon the straight path set before us and to be alert against the invitation from Folly to come away with her for a little fun. The Bible tells us so simply, "He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will be destroyed" (Proverbs 13:20). May we always walk with those who love Wisdom and leave those who promote Folly at her doorstep!
So Beloved, put on your best walking shoes, and let's go!
The one who walks in integrity
will experience a fearless confidence in life,
but the one who is devious
will eventually be exposed.
MY MUSINGS
"The Light of God has now come into the world, but the people loved darkness more than the Light, because they want the darkness to conceal their evil. So the wicked hate the Light and try to hide from it, for the Light fully exposes their lives. But those who love the truth will come into the Light, for the Light will reveal that it was God who produced their fruitful works.” (Proverbs 3:19-21 TPT).
"But if we walk in the light, as also God is in the light, we have fellowship one with another" (I John 1:7 DRC1752). Let us walk boldly in the light.
So Beloved, put on your best walking shoes, and let's go!
The righteousness of the blameless keeps his way straight,
but the wicked falls by his own wickedness.
The righteousness of the upright delivers them,
but the treacherous are taken captive by their lust.
MY MUSINGS
We need the righteousness of God to keep our way straight, and to keep our focus on what is important. "So above all, [we should] constantly seek God's kingdom and his righteousness, then all these less important things will be given to [us] abundantly" (Matthew 6:33). We need the righteousness of God to deliver us. So we should pray and ask God to "lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil ” (Matthew 6:13). Following His ways of righteousness makes us righteous. "So this is why we abandon everything morally impure and all forms of wicked conduct. Instead, with a sensitive spirit we absorb God’s Word, which has been implanted within our nature, for the Word of Life has power to continually deliver us" (James 1:21). "Let no one deceive and lead you astray. He who practices righteousness [who is upright, conforming to the divine will in purpose, thought, and action, living a consistently conscientious life] is righteous, as He is righteous" (I John 3:7).
So Beloved, put on your best walking shoes, and let's go!
Abundant life is discovered by walking in righteousness,
but holding on to your anger leads to death.
MY MUSINGS
"My dearest brothers and sisters, take this to heart: Be quick to listen, but slow to speak. And be slow to become angry, for human anger is never a legitimate tool to promote God’s righteous purpose" (James 19-20).
So Beloved, put on your best walking shoes, and let's go!
Sound thinking makes for gracious living,
but liars walk a rough road.
MY MUSINGS
God desires His children to have an abundant life. In fact, He wants us to have such an awesome life with Him that He gave us the Holy Spirit. He loves us so much, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind" (II Timothy 1:7). God is for us. He wants us to win. "What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us" (Romans 8:31)?
So Beloved, put on your best walking shoes, and let's go!
Leave the presence of a [shortsighted] fool,
For you will not find knowledge or hear godly wisdom from his lips.
MY MUSINGS
Escape quickly from the company of fools;
they’re a waste of your time, a waste of your words [Proverbs 14:7 MGS].
So Beloved, put on your best walking shoes, and let's go!
The way of the lazy is overgrown with thorns [it pricks, lacerates, and entangles him],
But the way [of life] of the upright is smooth and open like a highway.
MY MUSINGS
So Beloved, put on your best walking shoes, and let's go!
People make plans for what they will do,
but it is the Lord who leads them in the right way.
MY MUSINGS
So Beloved, put on your best walking shoes, and let's go!
He that is of wayward heart, shall not find good;
and he that turneth the tongue, shall fall into evil.
MY MUSINGS
"Put away from you false and dishonest speech, and willful and contrary talk put far from you. Let your eyes look right on [with fixed purpose], and let your gaze be straight before you. Consider well the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established and ordered aright. Turn not aside to the right hand or to the left; remove your foot from evil" (Proverbs 4:24-27 AMPC).
So Beloved, put on your best walking shoes, and let's go!
The character of God is a tower of strength,
for the lovers of God delight to run into his heart
and be exalted on high.
MY MUSINGS
So Beloved, put on your best walking shoes, and let's go!
Honor God’s holy instructions
and life will go well for you.
But if you despise his ways and choose your own plans,
you will die.
MY MUSINGS
So Beloved, put on your best walking shoes, and let's go!
The righteous man who walks in integrity and lives life in accord with his [godly] beliefs—
How blessed [happy and spiritually secure] are his children after him [who have his example to follow].
MY MUSINGS
So Beloved, put on your best walking shoes, and let's go!
You can discern that a person is guilty by his devious actions
and the innocence of a person by his honest, sincere ways
MY MUSINGS
So Beloved, put on your best walking shoes, and let's go!
Dedicate your children to God
and point them in the way that they should go,
and the values they’ve learned from you will be with them for life.
MY MUSINGS
So Beloved, put on your best walking shoes, and let's go!
Embrace the truth and hold it close.
Don’t let go of wisdom, instruction, and life-giving understanding.
MY MUSINGS
So Beloved, put on your best walking shoes, and let's go!
For the lovers of God may suffer adversity and stumble seven times,
but they will continue to rise over and over again.
MY MUSINGS
So Beloved, put on your best walking shoes, and let's go!
Don’t jump to conclusions—there may be
a perfectly good explanation for what you just saw.
MY MUSINGS
So Beloved, put on your best walking shoes, and let's go!
If a man digs a deep hole as a trap, he will fall into it himself.
If a man pushes a stone to fall on someone, it will fall back on him.
MY MUSINGS
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap (Galatians 6:7).
So Beloved, put on your best walking shoes, and let's go!
Always take care of your sheep and your goats, as well as your cows. Your riches will not be there for ever. One family does not rule a kingdom for ever. One day you will cut the grass in your fields and then new grass will grow. You will store the grass that has grown on the hills. Then you will use the wool from your sheep to make clothes. You make clothes from your sheep's wool. You will sell your goats, and you will buy a field. You will have enough milk from your goats to feed yourself, and all in your family.
MY MUSINGS
Take care of the possessions, people, and talents God has blessed you with, and He will make sure they take care of you (Galatians 6:7).
So Beloved, put on your best walking shoes, and let's go!
He who leans on, trusts in, and is confident of his own mind and heart is a [self-confident] fool,
but he who walks in skillful and godly Wisdom shall be delivered.
MY MUSINGS
If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God [Who gives] to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him (James 1:5).
So Beloved, put on your best walking shoes, and let's go!
Good people can’t stand the sight of deliberate evil;
the wicked can’t stand the sight of well-chosen goodness.
MY MUSINGS
As you go through your day, make sure you are standing on the right side.
So Beloved, put on your best walking shoes, and let's go!
Every promise from the faithful God
is pure and proves to be true.
He is a wraparound shield of protection for all his lovers
who run to hide in him.
MY MUSINGS
So Beloved, put on your best walking shoes, and let's go!
She watches over the activities of her household
and is never idle.
Her children rise up and call her blessed;
her husband also praises her:
MY MUSINGS
So Beloved, put on your best walking shoes, and let's go!
Here are proverbs that will help you recognize wisdom and good advice, and understand sayings with deep meaning. They can teach you how to live intelligently and how to be honest, just, and fair.
MY MUSINGS-Scriptures
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching the truth, rebuking error, correcting faults, and giving instruction for right living. (2 Timothy 3:16)
I praise you, O Lord; teach me your ways. (Psalm 119:12)
How good you are—how kind! Teach me your commands. (Psalm 119:68)
Bless me with your presence and teach me your laws. (Psalm 119:135)
Holy Word, teach me how to live!
If you listen to me, you will know what is right, just, and fair.
You will know what you should do.
You will become wise, and your knowledge will give you pleasure.
MY MUSINGS-Scriptures
It is the Lord who gives wisdom; from him come knowledge and understanding (Proverbs 2:6). Those who have reverence for the Lord will learn from him the path they should follow. (Psalm 25:12). You will show me the path that leads to life; your presence fills me with joy and brings me pleasure forever (Psalm 16:11). Praise the Lord! Happy is the person who honors the Lord, who takes pleasure in obeying his commands (Psalm 112:1).
Wisdom offers you long life, as well as wealth and honor.
Wisdom can make your life pleasant and lead you safely through it.
Those who become wise are happy; wisdom will give them life.
Be careful how you think;
your life is shaped by your thoughts.
My child, pay attention and listen to my wisdom and insight.
Then you will know how to behave properly, and your words will show that you have knowledge.
MY MUSINGS-
I love the Word. Jesus is the Word. When we hear the Word, when we believe the Word, when we follow the Word, our lives will be better.
Let the Word lead you as He is our Shepherd. Pay attention and follow His guidance for:
The Lord is my shepherd;
I have everything I need.
He lets me rest in fields of green grass
and leads me to quiet pools of fresh water.
He gives me new strength.
He guides me in the right paths,
as he has promised.
Even if I go through the deepest darkness,
I will not be afraid, Lord,
for you are with me.
Your shepherd's rod and staff protect me.
You prepare a banquet for me,
where all my enemies can see me;
you welcome me as an honored guest
and fill my cup to the brim.
I know that your goodness and love will be with me all my life;
and your house will be my home as long as I live.
(Psalm 23)
“I'll just take a short nap,” he says; “I'll fold my hands and rest a while.”
But while he sleeps, poverty will attack him like an armed robber.
MY MUSINGS-
“Wake up, sleeper, and rise from death, and Christ will shine on you. So be careful how you live. Don't live like ignorant people, but like wise people. Make good use of every opportunity you have, because these are evil days. Don't be fools, then, but try to find out what the Lord wants you to do. (Ephesians 5:14-17)
Do not sleep on what God calls you to do.
Do not miss the opportunity to be blessed,
Live out the plans He has set before you.
With inaction and procrastination, you lose prosperity and hope.
Although your eyes have received rest,
your hands are empty and your heart is broke.
My child, remember what I say and never forget what I tell you to do.
Do what I say, and you will live.
Be as careful to follow my teaching as you are to protect your eyes.
I love those who love me;
whoever looks for me can find me.
“Come in, ignorant people!” To the foolish she says,
“Stolen water is sweeter. Stolen bread tastes better.”
Her victims do not know that the people die who go to her house,
that those who have already entered are now deep in the world of the dead.
The righteous have enough to eat, but the wicked are always hungry.
MY MUSINGS-Scripture
“I am the bread of life,” Jesus told them. “Those who come to me will never be hungry; those who believe in me will never be thirsty."
Someone who respects and obeys the Lord knows that he will be safe.
His family also will be in a safe place.
If you respect and obey the Lord,
that is like a spring of water that gives you life.
It will keep you safe from death's traps.
The Lord sees what happens everywhere; he is watching us, whether we do good or evil.
Not even the world of the dead can keep the Lord from knowing what is there; how then can we hide our thoughts from God?
The Lord hates evil thoughts, but he is pleased with friendly words.
We may make our plans, but God has the last word.
Ask the Lord to bless your plans, and you will be successful in carrying them out.
You may make your plans, but God directs your actions.
Better to eat a dry crust of bread with peace of mind than have a banquet in a house full of trouble.
Help your relatives and they will protect you like a strong city wall,
but if you quarrel with them, they will close their doors to you.
The slacker does not plow during planting season;
at harvest time he looks, and there is nothing.
Righteous people are sure of themselves;
the wicked have to pretend as best they can.
If you have to choose between a good reputation and great wealth, choose a good reputation.
Truth, wisdom, learning, and good sense—these are worth paying for,
but too valuable for you to sell.
My child, eat honey; it is good. And just as honey from the comb is sweet on your tongue,
you may be sure that wisdom is good for the soul. Get wisdom and you have a bright future.
Reliable friends who do what they say
are like cool drinks in sweltering heat—refreshing!
It is foolish to spread a net
where any bird can see it,
but they set an ambush to kill themselves;
they attack their own lives.
MY MUSINGS
We must be careful not to make choices that will lead to harm, to our own lives or to the lives of others. God tells us, "If you respond to my warning, then I will pour out my spirit on you and teach you my words (Proverbs 1:23)". God's words of wisdom give us knowledge of how to live. Wisdom calls out, "how long foolish ones will you love ignorance?" (Proverbs 1:22). "For the turning away of the inexperienced will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them. But whoever listens to me will live securely and be free from the fear of danger"(Proverbs 1:32-33). Sadly, "because [the foolish] hated knowledge, [they] didn’t choose to fear the Lord" (Proverbs 1:29). Choosing not to fear the Lord leads to a life of calamity, terror, and stress (Proverbs 1:27). Not listening to God, and not reading His words, in turn, leads to making poor decisions that ultimately becomes an attack on our own lives.
How then do we protect our lives? The Good News tells us, "Trust in the Lord and do what is good; dwell in the land and live securely. Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you your heart’s desires. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act, making your righteousness shine like the dawn, your justice like the noonday" (Psalm 37:3-6). Then, as the evening wanes, we can happily say to the Lord, "You have put more joy in my heart. I will both lie down and sleep in peace, for You alone, Lord, make me live in safety" (Psalm 4:7-8).
